‘Birth certificate’ of New Amsterdam in New York
The Schaghen letter, the letter considered to be the ‘birth certificate’ of New York, is the most important document in the exhibition New Amsterdam. The Island at the Center of the World. The Exhibition. The exhibition will be opened by the National Archives of the Netherlands on September 12 in the presence of Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Maxima of the Netherlands in the South Street Seaport Museum.
